What does scraping your tongue do?

A few things, all of them small but meaningful

It freshens breath. Most bad breath originates on the tongue, not the teeth. Lifting off that bacterial layer makes a noticeable difference — often within a day or two of starting.

It wakes up your taste buds. With less coating in the way, flavors come through more clearly. People are usually surprised how much sharper their morning coffee or fruit tastes after a week of scraping.
